Along Fifth Street

Campus News and Updates, Fall 2022

The Power of Engaged Alumni

Each year, we look forward to welcoming Baylor alumni and their families back to campus for a wealth of traditions and events that range from exciting football games at McLane Stadium and Christmas on 5th Street in the fall to Green and Gold Weekend and All University Sing in the spring.

The Baylor Line

There is a line that connects generation to generation of the Baylor Family. “That Good Old Baylor Line” is a tradition that continues to grow as each new generation makes it their own.

Lights Shine Bright

Each fall, colleges and universities vie for the attention of prospective students through a variety of media, the most prominent of which might just be the commercials that air on national TV during college sports.

National Leadership

One of the nation’s most respected voices in American higher education and for the role of faith-based universities, Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., has been elected chair of the NCAA Board of Governors.

The Lights Now Shine Brighter at Baylor

The Senior Class of 2022 and Student Government funded an upgrade to the iconic lights of Pat Neff Hall. Since 1978, the lights have glowed green after a Baylor victory or in commemoration of a special moment.

Baylor Connections

Each week, Baylor Connections welcomes guests who share their work and the University’s impact with listeners of KWBU, Waco’s NPR station. Alumni and friends near and far also can enjoy the podcast online at baylor.edu/connections.

Welcome to the Ohana

In Fall 2021, Baylor’s incoming class had a record number of students from Hawai’i. Brianna Tancinco, a senior social work major with a minor in dance, was inspired with fellow Hawaiians to start an organization with the hopes of sharing the Hawaiian culture and aloha spirit with the Baylor community.

In High Demand

The incoming Class of 2026 reflects the broad reach of Baylor’s reputation for academic excellence and a robust student experience grounded in a Christian community.

Renewed Opportunities

The U.S. Department of Education renewed Baylor University’s five-year grant for the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, which prepares high-achieving college students from diverse backgrounds for doctoral studies.

Social Accolades

Fall is “national rankings” season in higher ed, and, amongst other accolades, Baylor now ranks among the top 10 universities in the nation when it comes to social media engagement.

High Honors

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Learning and Organizational Change online program housed within Baylor’s School of Education has been named Program of the Year 2022 winner by Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED).
