Lights Shine Bright
Each fall, colleges and universities vie for the attention of prospective students through a variety of media, the most prominent of which might just be the commercials that air on national TV during college sports. This year, Baylor took a distinctive approach to its national commercial by partnering with rising Christian pop stars Apollo LTD and bringing their latest hit, “Run,” to life with scenes shot on campus and students whose love for Baylor lights up the screen.
Both the 30-second commercial and the full-length video were filmed entirely on Baylor’s campus with scenes from real students like Senior Edyta Zimny.
“The part of the song — There’s a spark in your heart and a fire that’s in your eyes full of hope cause you know everything’s gonna be alright... — truly resonated with me because it reminds me of my life as a student,” Zimny said. “My calling is to be in healthcare, and that is a tough field to get into. But there is a spark in my heart and a fire that’s in my eyes that will guide me through my journey at Baylor and with God and His plan for me. The song is also really catchy and super motivational!”
Jason D. Cook, A.B.C., ’20 is Baylor’s vice president for marketing and communications and chief marketing officer.
“Each year of our Lights Shine Bright campaign has leaned into the joyful spirit reflected in Baylor’s community. This year, we knew we had a unique opportunity, through Apollo LTD’s ‘Run’, to feature the University in a music video and showcase what it’s like to be a Baylor student and embark on a college journey like none other,” Cook said.
Jordon Philips and Adam Stark of Apollo LTD were excited to renew their partnership with Baylor. The Nashville-based Christian duo are no strangers to campus having performed last year at a student event hosted by Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., and another concert during Diadeloso.
“We had a blast working with the Baylor crew. The students were so much fun and had great attitudes the whole time. Even though I’m pretty sure most of them had never been in a music video before, they were total pros! Naturals! We could tell that everyone involved had a strong commitment to the Baylor community and way of life. It was awesome to work with everyone involved,” Philips said.
