In May, Baylor Alumni, along with the Houston Touchdown Club, hosted one of their first in-person events with the Baylor Family in nearly 13 months. Approximately 200 Baylor alumni, fans and friends heard from Baylor Football head coach Dave Aranda in a socially distanced, yet long-awaited, celebration.

“It was an incredible night to see the Baylor Family once again in person and together after the hard year we have all had with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Baylor Associate Vice President of Alumni Engagement Amy Armstrong said. “Our alumni have been wonderful in these last 13 months, keeping their connections with Baylor through webinars, Zoom meetings and through social media, but there’s nothing like seeing the Baylor Family come together in person. We are excited to be able to start planning these safe, socially distanced events once again.”

As CDC guidance continues to evolve and vaccination programs become widespread, Baylor has eased restrictions on in-person gatherings on campus and at regional events hosted by alumni groups. Baylor will continue to offer web-based events and online options for some of its events. Armstrong said the addition of these virtual events is based on feedback from the Baylor Family.

“One of the touching moments during the COVID-19 pandemic was seeing how alumni have taken the opportunity to reconnect with Baylor through our online events,” Armstrong said. “Many of these alumni live abroad or in areas where there isn’t a robust Baylor presence. We love that these online options work for our alumni, and we are committed to keeping that access for them where possible.”
