Baylor tied for fourth nationally for student engagement in the 2022 edition of The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education (THE) College Rankings, released in September. The University was recognized for its students’ high levels of academic engagement, faculty engagement and college experience satisfaction. Baylor ranked highest among Texas and Big 12 Conference institutions.

The annual WSJ/THE College Rankings include data from the U.S. Student Survey, which asked students to answer 12 core questions about their college experience and measures how well a university informs, inspires and challenges its students. This national recognition demonstrates that the entire Baylor experience — both in and out of the classroom — makes a Baylor education special.

In addition, U.S. News & World Report ranked Baylor 15th nationally for first-year experience and the University earned an “A” for its rigorous core curriculum in the annual American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) What Will They Learn? report. Baylor is one of 24 universities nationally and one of two in Texas to earn an “A” rating in ACTA’s assessment of the core curriculum programs at more than 1,100 colleges and universities.

Schools that received a top grade require their Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science students to complete coursework in at least six of seven essential liberal arts and sciences disciplines: composition, literature, foreign language, U.S. government or history, mathematics, and natural science. Baylor was noted for its core requirements in six academic disciplines.
