Spring 2022 - Bears Roar on Twitter - Story

Groundbreaking research and innovation are nothing new to the Baylor campus. Although, they typically roll out of the halls and laboratories of the University’s academic buildings.

In recent months, those innovations have been on Twitter and come by way of a Baylor alumnus.

Thanks to Ted Harrison, B.A. ’11, head of production for Twitter’s ArtHouse creator-focused content platform, Baylor has been an incubator for some of Twitter’s recent innovations, giving the active online BU community — colloquially and proudly carrying the banner of #BaylorTwitter — early adopter access to these features.

Twitter Spaces is a live audio communication tool that allows large numbers of users to join a conversation with moderators facilitating questions and user interactions. Baylor men’s basketball coach Scott Drew was the first Division I NCAA coach interviewed live on the platform — before its worldwide launch.

One of the newest Twitter launches is the Communities feature, a semi-private group function that gives users a dedicated venue to connect, share and interact on shared interests. Baylor was the first college fan base to get its own Communities group.

With nearly 700 members, the Baylor Twitter Community continues to grow and build excitement and engagement on all things Green and Gold.
