Behringers Lend Name to McLane Stadium Recruiting Lounge

Winter 2021 - Give Light Campaign
More about Give Light
Give Light is a $1.1 billion comprehensive campaign for the future of Baylor University.

In September, Baylor renamed the McLane Stadium recruiting lounge in honor of Todd, B.B.A. ’88, and Susan Behringer of Woodway, Texas. The Behringer Recruiting Lounge, located in the lower level of the stadium’s northwest corner, recognizes the couple’s support of capital improvements through the Give Light Campaign.

While located at McLane Stadium, the Behringer Recruiting Lounge is available throughout the year to all sports. The dynamic space, which includes a field-level view of McLane Stadium, is utilized by prospective student-athletes and their families to interact with Baylor coaches and staff.

Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., said the University is blessed to have alumni and friends whose financial support helps the institution thrive.

“Todd and Susan are committed to the growth and success of Baylor University, as well as the greater Waco community. Their gift advances the growth priorities of Baylor Athletics, benefiting all members of our Baylor Family,” Livingstone said. “We are grateful for their continued support and for this generous gift, which will create so many opportunities for our student-athletes and future Baylor Bears.”

The naming is in recognition of the Behringers’ gift in support of the Baylor Basketball Pavilion and the proposed Football Operations Center. The gift provides significant momentum toward fundraising efforts for these two priority capital projects within the Give Light Campaign. A portion of the gift also provides support for the Baylor Bear Foundation.

“Todd and Susan believe in the mission of Baylor University, and they are committed to making sure we have the resources necessary to see our student-athletes succeed,” Baylor Vice President and Director of Athletics Mack B. Rhoades IV said. “We are grateful for their generous support through this gift to the Athletics Capital Fund, and we celebrate the momentum it is helping to generate as we continue to raise funds for the Basketball Pavilion and the proposed Football Operations Center.”

The Behringers are committed to the Waco community, giving faithfully and serving through volunteering. Todd is CEO of The Behringer Group LLC. He is also the director of finance and partner for Turner Behringer, which specializes in identifying, acquiring and developing commercial and residential projects in the Central Texas area. He is chairman and CEO of Bicycle World, Waco Running Company and other ventures within the Waco community, and he serves on the board of directors for the YMCA of Central Texas. Todd and Susan, who earned an art degree from California State University, Long Beach, have three children, one of whom is a Baylor student.

“As a family, we are excited to support our Baylor Bears and contribute to their success through this gift,” Todd Behringer said. “We believe that Mack and his staff are building Champions for Life, and we are excited for the future of Baylor Athletics. Baylor Athletics has always been a common ground that brings together our Central Texas community. We believe continued athletic-facilities enhancements will benefit our community and provide incredible opportunities for our Central Texas neighbors.”

The 150,000-square-foot basketball pavilion will have a 7,000-person seating capacity, practice and office facilities for men’s and women’s basketball, and sports performance facilities. The proposed Football Operations Center will provide much-needed space for the program’s coaches, weight rooms, rehabilitation facilities, team meeting rooms and team nutrition support. It will also create room for other Baylor sports programs to grow and thrive within the vacated spaces football currently occupies in the Simpson Athletics and Academic Center.
