Entrepreneurship Program Receives High Marks

Rankings released by The Princeton Review and featured in Entrepreneur magazine list Baylor’s program in the Hankamer School of Business at No. 9 among the Top 25 Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship for 2018.

It is additional recognition that Baylor offers one of the top programs for students aspiring to launch their own businesses.

“Being a top-ranked program rests on the tireless dedication of an outstanding group of scholars and staff,” said Dr. Matthew S. Wood, chair and associate professor of entrepreneurship in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. Entrepreneurship department faculty are internationally recognized researchers who also deliver transformational learning experiences to Baylor students. We are blessed to be recognized as a leading program.”

The John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise at Baylor was established in 1977, and the undergraduate entrepreneurship program now offers 31 entrepreneurship-related undergraduate courses.

Over the last five years, its graduates have started 280 companies and have collectively raised $50 million in funding. Each of Baylor’s undergraduate entrepreneurship faculty has started, bought or run a successful business, and 175 individual mentors worked with students through an officially sponsored school program.

The Princeton Review surveyed more than 300 schools offering entrepreneurship studies with 38 institutions’ undergraduate and/or graduate programs making the roster of top schools for 2018.

“These colleges and business schools have superb entrepreneurship programs,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor in chief. “We highly recommend them to any applicant aspiring to launch a business. Their faculties are truly engaged in entrepreneurism. Their courses are rich with in-class and out-of-class experiential components, and the financial and networking support their students and programs receive via donors and alumni is extraordinary.”
