2010-11 Baylor Meritorious Achievement Awards

In its 165-year history, Baylor has seen its graduates become governors, doctors, leading researchers, captains of industry, award-winning artists, teachers, ministers ... The list goes on and on.
Each generation of alumni contributes to the success of Baylor, making an impact not only on the university as a whole but also on the generations of students who follow. Others come alongside the university through a shared sense of purpose to further the cause of Christ and to help Baylor equip its students for worldwide leadership and service.
In October, Baylor University will honor 10 members of the Baylor family for their contributions to the university and society as the 2010-11 Baylor Meritorious Achievement Awards are presented at Homecoming.
"We are extraordinarily blessed to count so many wonderful supporters as part of the Baylor family and Baylor Nation," says President Ken Starr. "We are grateful to all those who champion Baylor University for their love and support, and we are thrilled to recognize these individuals with the Baylor Meritorious Achievement Awards."
This year's list of award recipients includes nine Baylor graduates and one Truett Seminary Honorary Alumnus, ranging from the class of 1950 to a 2008 graduate.
- Baylor Alumnus of the Year, awarded annually to a graduate who has demonstrated remarkable achievement in the previous year. 2010-11 recipient: J. Cary Gray, BBA '79, BA '80, JD '83.
- Baylor Young Alumna of the Year, awarded annually to a graduate age 40 or under who has demonstrated remarkable achievement in the previous year. 2010-11 recipient: Katie Kilpatrick, BA '08.
- Pro Ecclesia Medal of Service, awarded to an individual whose broad contributions to Christian ministry have made an immeasurable impact upon a local or global community. 2010-11 recipient: Dr. Bill Pinson.
- Pro Texana Medal of Service, awarded to an individual whose contributions in furthering the mission of Baylor in the public or non-profit sector have made an immeasureable impact. 2010-11 recipient: Sen. Kirk Watson, BA '80, JD '81.
- Baylor Legacy Award, presented to individuals who demonstrate extraordinary service and philanthropy to Baylor or to causes that fit our mission as a Christian university. 2010-11 recipients: Sadie Jo Black, BS '50; Sue Holt Getterman, BA '50; Harold Riley, BBA '52; Clifton Robinson, BBA '63.
- Founders Medal, reserved for men and women whose service and contributions have been unusually significant to the life and future of Baylor. 2010-11 recipients: Charles, BA '55, and Mary Alice, BA '54, Wise.
