A Cheesy Deal

November 30, 2009

Leigh Smith Vickery, BA '90, has joined the Tyler [Texas] Morning Telegraph as food editor. "I serve as the food editor out of pure joy to be able to write and connect people with food and the pleasures of being with friends and family around the table," she says.
But that's not her only job. Under the Leigh Oliver's brand (Oliver is her middle name), Vickery recently secured a contract to provide queso for the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Ten items from her line of quesos, cheeses, sauces and dips are available in Whole Foods, Costco and Central Market stores and others in many states. In Texas, the Leigh Oliver's brand can be found in Sam's Clubs, Kroger, Whole Foods Markets, Central Market, Hubbell and Hudson and Rice Epicurean Stores, along with many mom and pop gourmet stores.
The Vickerys have made Baylor a family affair. Her husband Ron Vickery, BBA '87, JD '90, is an attorney and the Tyler school district's board president. Their sons are Will, 13, and Smith, 10. "We sure hope they go to Baylor!" Leigh says. Ron's parents are Pat, BA '52, and Sue (Gilpin) Vickery, BA '51. Ron's siblings and their families with Baylor ties are: Alan Vickery, BBA '83, JD '86, and his wife, Susie (Thornton) Vickery, BBA '84; Patti (Vickery) Randolf, BSHE '78, and her husband, Jim, BBA '80, MBA '83, and their children Justin Randolf, BSED '08, and Lauren (Randolf) Little
BSED '07.
