Baylor Ranked 76th By U.S. News

Baylor University came in at No. 76 among the 1,400-plus universities evaluated in U.S.News and World Report's 2009 rankings. The ranking represents Baylor's second-highest ever overall U.S. News ranking, just behind last year's ranking at No. 75.

Universities in the state of Texas once again lead the Big 12 Conference among the report's "Best National Universities." Among Big 12 schools, Baylor is the third highest-ranked university, behind only the University of Texas-Austin at No. 47 and'Texas A&M at No. 64. Seven other Big 12 schools from Colorado to Kansas State are ranked from 77th to 130th. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech placed in the third tier.

Baylor is the fifth highest-ranked university in Texas, with Rice at No. 17, UT-Austin, Texas A&M, and SMU at No. 66. TCU at No. 113 is the only other Texas school in the top 130.

Baylor's Hankamer School of Business tied with eight other universities at No. 65 in this year's top undergraduate business program rankings. Baylor's entrepreneurship program--one of the first in the country--was 14th among the nation's top programs.

Baylor's undergraduate engineering program continues to be highly ranked, this year rated 21st with five other universities among the "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs." The category is for schools whose highest engineering degree offered is a bachelor's or master's.
