Today's Leaders

Jon Meacham, managing editor of Newsweek and author of Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of an Epic Friendship, will be the featured guest for the Baylor University Libraries' third Ferguson-Clark Author Series at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Mayborn Museum Complex. 
Meacham will speak on "Franklin and Winston: Leadership Issues for Today" and hold a book signing. (For a review of his book, see Epilogue on page 54.)
Named "one of the most influential editors in the news magazine business" by The New York Times, Meacham became managing editor of Newsweek at age 29. He supervises the magazine's coverage of politics, international affairs and breaking news. He has written cover stories on guns in America, race in the new millennium, the theological implications of the sexual abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church, modern depictions of World War II in Hollywood movies, and "Who Really Killed Jesus? What History Teaches Us," which examined Mel Gibson's movie, "The Passion of the Christ."
The lecture series benefits Baylor University Libraries. It was established and endowed in 2002 by Collen A. Clark, BBA '86, JD '90, in honor of his mother, Carla Sue Ferguson Garrett, BA '58, a member of the libraries' board of advisers.
