Madden Steps Down From Administrative Post

Dr. Charles S. Madden, vice president for university relations at Baylor, stepped down from his administrative post on Jan. 31 to return to full-time teaching in the Hankamer School of Business.

The Ben H. Williams Professor of Marketing in the business school, Dr. Madden was appointed vice president for university marketing in March 1996 after serving for five months as interim director of public relations. He was named vice president for university relations in fall 1999.

Under Dr. Madden's leadership, Baylor's enrollment grew to record levels in both number and quality of students. He contributed to early discussions on Baylor's future that preceded the formulation of Baylor 2012. Dr. Madden also initiated the Baylor Success Center, which encompasses academic advisement, the Office of Access and Learning Accommodation, the registrar and career services.

Larry D. Brumley, associate vice president for external relations, will provide interim leadership for the university relations division, which includes public relations, alumni services, youth programs, university host, the Department of Public Safety, continuing education and career services.
