Dennehy's Body Found, Dotson Under Arrest

On July 27, McLennan County Sheriff Larry Lynch announced that a body found July 25 just south of Waco had been identified as that of Patrick Dennehy, the Bears' basketball player who had been missing since June 14. Cause of death was not established.
Dennehy, who transferred to Baylor in fall 2002 from the University of New Mexico following his sophomore year, was reported missing by family members on June 19.
Dennehy's former teammate, Carlton Dotson, remains in a Maryland jail without bail awaiting extradition back to Texas. He has been named in the shooting death of Dennehy.
In a corollary to the Dennehy case, some individuals close to the deceased athlete have alleged impropriety in Baylor's men's basketball program. In response, Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr. appointed an investigative committee consisting of Baylor Law School professors Bill Underwood, David Guinn and Michael Rogers to review the men's basketball program. Former Austin mayor and Baylor alumnus Kirk Watson was retained as outside counsel to the committee. 
"Integrity is the cornerstone on which our entire athletics program is built, and we will spare no effort to determine if that commitment was compromised in any way," Dr. Sloan said.
