When the last issue of Baylor Magazine went to press in early March, the highlight of the Bears' season seemed to be a win at Kentucky that snapped the Wildcats' nation-leading 55-game home winning streak. As it turned out, the best was yet to come.
The Lady Bears' 2013 run toward a second-straight national title was derailed in the Sweet 16 by eventual NCAA tournament runner-up Louisville, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of a squad that had been ranked No. 1 for most of the season.
In April, Baylor celebrated the completion of phase two construction of the Willis Family Equestrian Center with the dedication of the Carlile Equestrian Team Building.
This fall marks Baylor football's 64th and final season at Floyd Casey Stadium before the Bears move back to campus with the opening of Baylor Stadium in 2014.
With the steel framework of Baylor Stadium rising in the background, Baylor President Ken Starr announced in early May that the university has raised more than $100 million in private support for Baylor football's new home on the banks of the Brazos River, slated to open in fall 2014.
