Thomas Wayne Wilkins, J.D. ’66, died March 5 at his home in McAllen, TX. He was born Oct. 17, 1941, in McAllen, TX, to parents Kenneth and Jane Kelly Wilkins. He graduated from McAllen High School in 1959 and Pan American College in 1963, where he played baseball. After graduating from college, he married Geen Giese Feb. 22, 1964. He then attended Baylor Law School, graduating in 1966.

After law school, they moved back to McAllen. He, along with his wonderful wife, raised three boys: Kenneth, Mark and Timothy. The three boys went on to give him 10 grandchildren who brought him enormous pride and joy. He was very much a family man who cherished his time with his children and grandchildren.

Wilkins lived a full and meaningful life as a devoted husband, proud father, loyal friend, respected attorney and mentor to many. He believed in hard work, loyalty to friends and family and living with quiet strength and integrity. He was a brilliant man, with a truly remarkable mind. When Wilkins’ final moments came, his sons were by his side, just as he had been there for them throughout their lives. The lessons he taught, the memories he created and the family he helped build will carry his memory forward for generations to come.
