A New Chapter in Residential Life

The newly renovated Kokernot Hall debuted this fall, welcoming 159 first-year residents of all majors to its community. 

Originally built in 1947, Kokernot’s renovation preserved the residence hall’s iconic exterior and historic details while updating the community spaces and amenities. Refreshed community spaces include a classroom, shared kitchen and study lounge, giving residents places to gather, collaborate, study and build connections to foster both academic success and community among residents.   

“The renovation of Kokernot Hall reflects Baylor’s commitment to honoring the legacy of our historic residence halls while creating spaces that support the needs of today’s students,” said Tiffany Lowe, senior director for Campus Living & Learning. “These spaces encourage connection, learning, and spiritual growth, which is what makes living on-campus so impactful. 

Our halls have shaped the Baylor experience for generations of students, and these renovations ensure they will continue to be places where students find connection and belonging for years to come.”

The renovation also marks the completion of Baylor’s plan initiated in 2013 to renovate all 10 of the University’s residence halls. The project represents a significant investment in residential life and in the places where Baylor students find community and experience life together.
