Melissa N. Jones

Melissa Nicole Jones, B.A. ’11, passed away on April 3 in Commerce City, CO. 

Jones was born on Aug. 22, 1989, in Riverside, CA, to Katherine Jones and William Jones Jr. She later made her home in Colorado, where she built a life filled with love, connection and meaningful memories. Waco also became a second home to Jones and played a significant role in her life and accomplishments. Jones played for Baylor’s women’s basketball from 2007-11. Her No. 5 jersey was retired — only one of seven in the program’s history. She excelled in sports and academics, and most importantly in her role as a cherished and devoted member of her family. Throughout her journey, she formed many lasting relationships and was deeply loved by all who knew her. 

Known for her warmth and radiant spirit, Jones was a bright light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She left a lasting impression through her kindness, strength and unwavering love.
