The Chosen Few
From gaining valuable on-set experiences to working alongside industry professionals, two Baylor film and digital media students applied skills learned in the classroom and expanded their knowledge of working on professional productions on the set of The Chosen. The show — a historical drama of the life of Christ through the eyes of those around him — has appeared on the IMDb Top 250 list, and reviewers have praised the program’s storytelling and production. Such success made the chance to serve in professional roles on the show even more appealing to Baylor students.
Aundrea Suhl-Borbón, B.A. ’25, and Major Hargraves, B.A. ’26, are among the Baylor students who have worked on the program and gained valuable professional experience.
For Suhl-Borbón, her start with the show was an answer to prayer and an unexpected opportunity. As a sophomore, she landed an internship with the program as a costumer, a position she says was a surprise given that she didn’t know how to sew. But she excelled in that role and worked her way up to the role of videographer and editor with the program’s behind-the-scenes team, which provides a look into meaningful moments from filming and production to The Chosen fanbase.
Hargraves was encouraged by Suhl-Borbón to pursue a role on the show, and he also landed a job in the costume department, helping with wardrobe and background extras. Like Suhl-Borbón, Hargraves earned additional opportunities after garnering positive attention for his work. He eventually moved into his “dream role” with the series, behind-the-scenes videography.
Working in both summer and school-year assignments, Suhl-Borbón and Hargraves navigated work and study, along with travel in Texas and Utah. The real-world experience they gained was worth the hard work.
