Top 30 Twice Over

January 7, 2025

The list of schools to make U.S. News’ top 30 for both undergraduate teaching and undergraduate research is a short (and impressive one), filled with schools like Duke, Michigan, Princeton, Stanford, Yale — and Baylor.

For the third year in a row, U.S. News rankings placed Baylor on this prestigious shortlist. Baylor was ranked 26th nationally for undergraduate teaching and 23rd for undergraduate research/creative projects. No other Texas school ranked in the top 30 in both categories; Baylor also is the only school with an explicit, primary identity as a Christian university to make both lists.

The teaching honor is nothing new for Baylor — undergraduate education has long been a hallmark of the University. Baylor’s growing research efforts further advance undergraduate education, as professors bring cutting-edge knowledge gained in their research into the classroom and undergraduate students get hands-on opportunities in labs across campus.

“At Baylor, we deeply value a transformational undergraduate educational experience,” said Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D. “It is rewarding to have our peer institutions and others continue to recognize Baylor’s dynamic and distinct undergraduate programs that impact our students’ success and learning. A Baylor education is highly valued, and we are focused on expanding access and affordability while remaining committed to the ‘Baylor Distinctives’ not captured by U.S. News but that we know also drive student choice, such as faith and character development and students being able to develop close connections with faculty.”
