Career Experience

Orhue Odaro is an assistant professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in Houston, serving as both a physician-educator and a clinical faculty member in the Department of Hospital Medicine, in which capacity she cares for hospitalized patients with cancer. She concurrently is the site director for the Baylor-MDACC Track Residency Program, an onco-medicine residency training program, as well as a director in the Division of Education and Training, where she leads faculty development for aspiring physician-educators. Odaro graduated summa cum laude from Baylor with a B.S. in biochemistry in 2011 and received an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in 2015. She subsequently completed a residency and chief residency in internal medicine, also at BCM, in 2019.

Board Experience

Odaro has served on the Baylor College of Medicine Alumni Executive Board since 2019. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Baylor Bridges program, which connects Baylor University prehealth students with Baylor alumni healthcare professionals in their fields of interest. In this role, she has given lectures to Baylor prehealth students and recently presented as an invited speaker at Baylor MedTalk, a seminar on current innovations in healthcare.

Awards and Honors

At Baylor, Odaro received the Phi Beta Kappa Undergraduate Honors Society Award in 2010 and the Alpha Chi Honors Society Medal for graduating with a 4.0 GPA in 2011. In 2015, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society as a medical student. In 2022, she received the MDACC President’s Award for excellence in mentoring and education.

Baylor Philanthropy

Having attended Baylor as an international student and experienced the generosity of the Baylor Family, Odaro supports international students through the Paul and Virginia Cheng International Student Endowment, which funds the Global Friendship Program that connects international students at Baylor to local families.

Church/Christian Mission Affiliations

Odaro and her husband are members of City Life Church in Houston, where they foster community by hosting a Bible study at their home. Odaro also serves as an usher in the church.
