Jayson S. Baldridge
Jayson Samuel Baldridge, B.A. ’21, known as “JB,” was born on July 30, 1999, in Houston to Joe Baldridge and Shari Baldridge-Foster. Growing up in Richmond, TX, he excelled both in academics and athletics. He participated in multiple sports, and he ultimately found his true passion in track and field.
During his time at George Ranch High School, Baldridge earned many athletic accolades: he became the state champion in the 300-meter hurdles and the 4x400 meter relay. He was also part of the 2015 George Ranch 6A state-winning football team.
Baldridge then attended Baylor, where he earned an athletic scholarship in 2017, was recognized as an All-American in the 400-meter hurdles and relay team and served as captain of the Track & Field team. His ultimate dream was to join the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team, and in 2021 he was invited to participate in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR. That same spring, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
Baldridge cared deeply for family, friends and his community, mentoring young athletes and giving back to the organizations that shaped him. In the Fall of 2019, he joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and later assumed a leadership role. His legacy of service continues to have a lasting impact within the Baylor chapter.
In the Fall of 2023, Baldridge was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Despite the diagnosis, he remained resolute, always affirming “I am not this disease.” He continued to live life to the fullest. Baldridge married Alexis Thomas on Jan. 3, 2025. He kept working, purchased his dream vehicle, traveled the world, cooked great meals and hosted family gatherings.
On Aug. 18, 2025, Baldridge passed away peacefully among his family. He was beloved for his radiant smile, athleticism, culinary skills, brotherhood and generous spirit. His positive presence touched countless lives.
