Alumni Tours Showcase Old and New Campus Hubs

January 7, 2025

Alumni can Rediscover their college home, visit familiar sights and see the new additions to Baylor’s campus on campus tours tailored just for them. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions offers tours Monday through Friday for alumni and their guests to revisit the places that ignited curiosity, nurtured friendships and framed lifelong college memories.

The student-led campus tours are modeled after those offered to prospective students, with a few key additions. The Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center serves as an anchor point for both prospective students getting a taste of life at Baylor and alumni returning to their alma mater.

“The alumni tour deviates from the traditional student tour by focusing on essential campus areas familiar to alumni,” said Jen McCrady, B.A. ’06, senior director of enrollment marketing. “We also mix in recent developments, like the Baylor Sciences Building and Paul L. Foster Campus, home to the business school, to offer a balanced blend of the familiar and new.”

Alumni tours strive to align with the specific interests of the tour group, focusing on alumni participants’ areas of study or other points of involvement during their time as students.

“Our driver and tour guide were great,” said a recent alumni tour participant. “Both were enthusiastic and went to great lengths to even get us into the stadium and on the field while the band was practicing.”

Prior to the Hurd Welcome Center’s construction, there were typically two to three alumni tour groups per month, a figure that rose during events like Homecoming and graduation. With the enhanced capacity of the Hurd Welcome Center as Baylor’s front door, these visits increased to at least 10 per month.

We encourage all alumni to visit the Hurd Welcome Center and take an alumni tour so the students of today can showcase the advancements and additions made to campus thanks to those who came before.
