As demand continues to rise for a Baylor education, the University welcomed another enthusiastic, high-achieving and diverse first-year class of more than 3,400 students this fall. And they really stand out in the crowd.

Accepted from the record 46,942 prospective students who completed applications to the University, this class officially said “yes” to Baylor and immersed themselves in a transformational undergraduate education at a preeminent Christian R1 university.

Running down the numbers, the Class of 2028 includes:

  • Students from all 50 U.S. states and around 50 countries.
  • The highest percentage of under-represented minority students ever in a first-year class.
  • 40% are students of color.
  • 42% are male, a 2% jump from last fall.
  • An increase in high-ability students, whose combinations of test scores and grades correlate to a higher likelihood of success at Baylor.

This demand for a Baylor education also extended beyond the freshman class to transfer students — with a record of more than 1,600 transfer applicants. Nearly 350 transfer students chose to continue their undergraduate education at Baylor.

From first learning about Baylor to taking a campus tour and eventually applying, prospective students are attracted to Baylor for a number of reasons, namely strong academics, Baylor’s historic Christian mission, a mid-size University and a robust student experience that also includes Power 4 athletics.

But it’s that student experience — especially during a student’s first year on campus — that is critical to student success both inside and outside the classroom. Baylor’s yearlong onboarding experience is holistic and customized for each student. Whether it’s participating in Line Camp and Welcome Week, living on campus or finding the right Chapel experience, taking New Student Experience courses or finding their way through academic advising and more, Baylor goes above and beyond to help all new students feel like they are truly a part of the Baylor Family.

Even top university administrators from across the country have continued to take notice of Baylor’s deeply valued first-year experience, as well as the University’s Living-Learning Communities (LLC), by ranking both programs among the best nationally in U.S. News & World Report. Both are linked to student success and positive learning outcomes while fostering a rewarding undergraduate experience.
