Global Network
The Baptist World Alliance (BWA) unanimously approved Baylor University as the global network’s third higher education Member Partner at its annual meeting this summer. In addition, Baylor’s Truett Seminary became a Full Member Partner after five years as an Associate Member. Baylor joins the BWA’s membership of 266 Baptist organizations across 134 countries and territories that represent more than 51 million Baptists worldwide.
“Baylor is the largest Baptist university in the world, and we are thrilled to join the Baptist World Alliance as a Member Partner. We believe this relationship will help us continue to fulfill our mission to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service,” Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., said.
With a vision to network the Baptist Family to impact the world for Christ, the BWA is a global movement of Baptists begun more than 100 years ago. BWA is committed to strengthening worship, fellowship and unity; leading in mission and evangelism; responding to people in need through aid, relief and community development; defending religious freedom, human rights and justice; and advancing theological reflection and leadership development.
Baylor joined the BWA as an Associate Member in 2022 with the intent of seeking full membership once educational institutions were given access, which occurred in July 2023. The University joins Dallas Baptist University and Howard Payne University in advancing the message of hope in Christ around the world.
