Baylor softball received three All-Big 12 selections and Head Coach Glenn Moore was honored as the Big 12 Co-Coach of the Year among the 2023 All-Big 12 Softball postseason awards announced by the conference office.

The Coach of the Year honor for Moore is his first time winning the award during his 27 years as a head coach. He led the Bears to a 39-win regular season and a program-best six top-5 wins. Baylor handed No. 1 Oklahoma its only loss of the regular season and swept a two-game road trip at No. 4 Tennessee.

Shaylon Govan was unanimously named to the All-Big 12 First Team after her standout performance in her first season with the Bears.

Additionally, Dariana Orme earned All-Big 12 second team and RyLee Crandall was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.

Orme emerged as the program ace, pitching the first seven-inning perfect game in program history in the season’s home opener versus SFA, following up that performance with a no-hitter over No. 21 Maryland.

The Bears closed the regular season with a sweep of No. 5 Texas and would go on to earn a spot in the NCAA Salt Lake Regional.

Fighting through an injury-depleted pitching staff, the Bears picked up their 40th win of the season, marking the 12th time in Moore’s 22-year tenure that his club has hit that milestone.

“I’ve never seen this team quit,” Moore said. “It’s a character of this team that motivates me to coach, that they really compete every inning and they keep it that small.”
