President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., was named chair of the American Council on Education (ACE) Board of Directors, with her term beginning April 2023 and serving through September 2024. President Livingstone previously served as vice-chair.
“ACE’s work to mobilize American higher education for the good of our students and communities grows more important every year as the challenges facing our nation and world become ever more complex,” said ACE President Ted Mitchell. “I deeply appreciate Linda’s dedication and service, along with the entire ACE Board of Directors.”

I look forward to promoting the generational impacts that our colleges and universities have on so many people, as well as on cities, regions and states across the country.”
ACE is a membership organization that empowers the higher education community to shape effective public policy and foster innovative, high-quality practice. It is the major coordinating body for the nation’s higher education institutions, with a diverse membership of more than 1,700 colleges and universities, related associations and other organizations in America and abroad.
President Livingstone also is serving as chair of the NCAA Board of Governors, is the new chair of the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors and previously served on the NCAA’s Constitution and Transformation committees. Each leadership role offers a tremendous opportunity for Baylor University to have a leading voice in helping to shape the future of higher education and intercollegiate athletics.

Since her inauguration in 2017, President Livingstone has made enhancing the University’s academic enterprise a key priority of her leadership. She is animated by a desire to build upon Baylor’s historic strengths and increase undergraduate and graduate educational opportunities while expanding the University’s service to the surrounding world through research and scholarship.
