Career Experience

John Mark Jennings is director of enterprise risk management for In-N-Out Burger. His previous work experience includes serving the city of Laguna Niguel as mayor and city council member from 2016 to 2019 and as planning commissioner from 2012 to 2016. A graduate of Baylor University (B.B.A. ’88) and Whittier College (J.D. ’97), he served as an attorney with Kutak Rock, a partner with Shulman Bastian, and a trial clerk with the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C.

Board Experience

Jennings serves on the board of directors for South County Outreach and Pacific Symphony, and he has served on the chair of the Orange County Housing Finance Trust and as director of the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control. He previously served as a committee member of the Investment Banking and Audit Committee, Economic Development Ad Hoc Committee, Parks and Recreation Committee, Homelessness Prevention Committee, and Youth Committee for the city of Laguna Niguel.

Awards and Honors

A native of Denison, Texas, Jennings was named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by Denison High School in 2019.

Baylor Philanthropy

Jennings has supported the construction of the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation. As a Baylor student, he served for four years with the Office of External Affairs, working with Baylor’s leadership to support strategic planning activities for the creation, implementation, and execution of development projects. He was also a Student Foundation representative during his time at Baylor.

Church/Christian Mission Affiliations

Jennings and his wife are members of Mission Lutheran Church in Laguna Niguel, where he is currently serving as congregation president. He previously was the chair of the Capital Campaign and chair of the Human Resources Committee for Mission Lutheran Church, in addition to serving as a volunteer for Plant with Purpose in the Dominican Republic in 2016.
