Danny Rex Bowlin, B.B.A. ’69, was born July 31, 1947, and died Feb. 27. He was the first-born son of Ollie and Raymond Bowlin and was raised in Amarillo with his younger siblings, Joe and Debbie.

He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1965 and Baylor University in 1969 with a B.B.A. in accounting. He began his career as a CPA at Peat Marwick Mitchell in Dallas. In 1970, he married his college sweetheart, Marsha Shamburger. They joined First Baptist Richardson and have been active members there for more than 50 years. He and Marsha have two children, Sarah and Mark. After 16 years and becoming a partner at PMM, Bowlin went to work for Hunt Petroleum in 1985. He served in various financial positions and retired as vice president and CFO in 2008 and continued working part-time for Peregrine Group until his death.

As the son of a Baptist preacher, Bowlin was raised with a love and dedication to God and His church. This faith was the foundation for everything in Bowlin’s life. When he was not working, he loved traveling with Marsha, playing golf with his buddies and watching his grandkids play sports. On Sundays, he loved serving in a Sunday School class with Marsha for more than 25 years. One of his greatest loves was Baylor University. Not only was Bowlin a dedicated fan, he and Marsha were also passionate about giving back through scholarships in areas of athletics, business, education, nursing and seminary. He loved giving students like him an opportunity to attend the University he loved.

Bowlin was kind, steadfast and personable. To know him was to love him. He was always ready with a smile and a laugh. He will be incredibly missed by his family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and fellow Baylor Bears.
