Baylor Named Among Fulbright Top Producers

A total of 14 Baylor students were selected for Fulbright awards for academic year 2022-23, a record number for the University. Overall, with 14 Fulbright grants, Baylor is tied for No. 16 nationally among research universities with the most Fulbright U.S. Student grants, earning it a Fulbright Top Producing Institution for U.S. Students designation by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In Texas, Baylor produced the second-most Fulbright grantees.

“Baylor University provides undergraduate students with a truly transformational education, including incredible opportunities to make a positive impact on our diverse and interconnected world through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program,” President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., said. “We are so proud of our 14 Fulbright recipients, who are studying and teaching in 11 countries — from Azerbaijan to the United Kingdom — while enhancing mutual understanding as cultural ambassadors.”

Two Baylor students earned the Fulbright Study/Research Award, a traditional award opportunity where they designed a research proposal for a specific country, and 12 students received the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Award, which places them in classrooms overseas to assist local English teachers while also serving as cultural ambassadors for the U.S.

“To be named a Top Producing Institution for the United States government’s flagship international educational exchange program is a high, high honor for Baylor, and we are exceedingly proud of this achievement,” said Andrew P. Hogue, M.A. ’05, Ph.D. ’09, associate dean for engaged learning at Baylor.

Baylor’s investment in supporting students in their pursuits of elite international scholarships has led to the development of leaders across numerous fields worldwide. Fulbright alumni return to their home with expanded worldviews, a deep appreciation for their host country and its people, and a larger network of colleagues and friends.
