New faculty start the semester off strong

The Baylor family welcomed 50 new faculty members to its ranks this fall, bringing the total number of Baylor faculty to 1,075. With these numbers, the University is able to maintain its student to faculty ratio of 15:1 and average undergraduate class size of 26 students. The scholars hail from a variety of locations across the globe and represent disciplines as varied as nursing and education to religion and chemistry.

“I’m delighted to welcome this talented and diverse group to Baylor. Their hiring demonstrates that demand for a Baylor education is high and that the University remains committed to research at the highest levels, excellence in teaching and low student/faculty ratios that combined provide a transformational education for our students,” Provost Nancy Brickhouse, B.A. ’82, Ph.D., said. “I look forward to getting to know these individuals further in the coming years and to witness how God uses them to further the mission of the University.”

Along with a two-day orientation experience over the summer designed to build community, learn more about Baylor and connect with other faculty in their home departments, the cohort enjoyed a special gift consisting of a Baylor polo, BU lapel pins and other Baylor items to help them feel at home among the green and gold.
