Baylor Conversation Series: Perspectives on Our History

April 1, 2021

The Baylor Family joined together for three new Conversation Series events in March to examine the historical context of the University’s founding and early years. The series began with a broad look at slavery in America and then began to narrow participants’ focus to examine slavery in Texas and Baptist life, and finally, slavery and Baylor University’s history.

While difficult subjects to discuss, the goal of the Series was to forthrightly and fully address the University’s history and foster an environment of racial equality throughout the Baylor Family. Following the Conversation Series events, the Report of the Commission on Historic Campus Representations at Baylor University was made publicly available.

  • SLAVERY IN AMERICA
  • SLAVERY IN TEXAS AND AMONG TEXAS BAPTISTS
  • SLAVERY AND BAYLOR UNIVERSITY’S FOUNDING

All events were recorded and are available online. If you missed these events or want to watch them again, we invite you to learn more about our shared history as together we illustrate to all members of the Baylor Family that they are valued and loved.
