Brewer, Lynch Earn Postseason Honors

wo Baylor football players earned lofty postseason honors in 2017. Quarterback Charlie Brewer was named Big 12 Conference Co-Offensive Freshman of the Year, while defensive tackle James Lynch was named to ESPN’s Freshman All-America team.

Brewer, a product of Austin’s Lake Travis High School, moved into the starting role midseason and finished with 1,562 yards and 11 touchdowns against four interceptions. He also was named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year by the Waco Tribune-Herald.

Lynch, who prepped at Round Rock [Texas] High School, appeared in all but one of Baylor’s 12 games this season and tallied 20 tackles. He finished with five tackles for loss, including three sacks.

Additionally, receiver Denzel Mims was a second-team All-Big 12 selection after logging 61 receptions for 1,087 yards and eight
touchdowns.
