Acrobatics & Tumbling wins 2015 National Championship

Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling claimed the 2015 NCATA national championship with a victory over the defending national champion Oregon Ducks April 25 in Fairmont, W.Va. The Bears finished the season with a perfect 11-0 record en route to their first national title, the fourth team national championship in Baylor Athletics history.

"I am so excited to bring this back to Baylor. It is a very deserving program and team," first-year head coach Felecia Mulkey said. "I told the girls at the beginning of the year, if you're going to win, you're going to have to deserve it,’ and I think they proved that this season and they definitely deserved this. This team not only improved from the beginning to the end, they improved every single day."

Baylor won five of the six events in the national championship to claim the crown, with victories in the compulsory, acro, pyramid, toss and team events.

The win capped off a season with numerous individual honors. Sophomore Kiara Nowlin was named the 2015 NCATA Most Outstanding Player, while freshman Shayla Moore earned Freshman of the Year honors.
