NCAA win caps soccer's most successful season in a decade

Baylor soccer's most successful season in more than 10 years saw the Bears win 15 games in 2011, second-most in program history, including the team's first-ever NCAA tournament victory.

Head coach Marci Jobson's squad finished 15-4-3, matching the 1998 Big 12 championship team in wins, and equaled the best finish in program history by advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament. There, they had the bad fortune of encountering 21-time national champion North Carolina; the Tar Heels beat Baylor, 5-0.

The Bears' win total has increased dramatically in each of Jobson's four years at the helm, from five wins in 2008, to eight in 2009, to 11 in 2010 and then to 15 this year. (The program record is 17 wins, set in 1996.) The team has also marched steadily up the Big 12 standings over that time, from 10th four years ago to third in 2011 -- Baylor's best finish since winning the Big 12 in 1998.

The team will graduate just three starters from this year's team: midfielder Bethany Johnston, defender Staz Salinas and goalkeeper Courtney Seelhorst. A two-year starter, Seelhorst leaves Baylor with the lowest career goals-against average in program history (0.86).
