Libraries Athletic Archive to house Teaff memorabilia collection

December 13, 2011

In his unparalleled 21 seasons as head coach of the Baylor football team, Grant Teaff compiled more than just a school-record 128 wins. He also amassed a personal collection of memorabilia from throughout Baylor's storied gridiron history.

Now, thanks to the generosity of the Teaff family and the foresight of Baylor Libraries, Bear fans everywhere will have the ability to enjoy these artifacts for years to come. At a reception hosted by Teaff and his wife, Donell, following the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner Homecoming weekend, Coach Teaff announced the creation of the Baylor University Libraries Athletics Archive -- an online experience that will house Teaff's personal collection of Baylor football memorabilia and other collections representing all Baylor sports.

"Legacy and remembrance are extremely important," Teaff told the crowd. "And among the things that we've been working on with the libraries is having a way for those experiences to go on generation after generation."

The Grant and Donell Teaff Football Collection serves as the first "exhibit" of the collection and features high resolution images of everything from programs and posters to uniforms and letter jackets. Fans also will discover video and audio files from games and practices and even songs dedicated to the football team.

"I believe it is going to be a wonderful collection," said Pattie Orr, vice president for information technology and dean of libraries. "I am so grateful to Grant and Donell for the enthusiasm they have about conserving the legacy of Baylor Athletics."

The Baylor University Library Athletics Archive is available through the Baylor Digital Collections at www.baylor.edu/lib/athleticsarchive.
