Head coach Marci Jobson played three years with the U.S. Women's National Team (2005-07). In 2007, she was the oldest player ever to make her first Women's World Cup roster; she retired following the event.
Jobson has helped the Bears develop a national reputation for stifling defense. In 2010, her squad tied the program record for shutouts (11) and ranked 33rd nationally (out of 325 teams) in goals-against average. That defense led Baylor to 11 wins, the team's most since 1999.
Goalkeeper Courtney Seelhorst's (above) career 0.85 goals against average is the best in Baylor history. The senior also ranks second all-time at BU in career shutouts, third in career wins and minutes played, and fifth in career saves.
With the defense steadied, a new class of freshmen is enhancing the offense. Through the first 10 games of the season, freshmen had scored nearly 40 percent of the team's goals (8/21), led by freshmen Natalie Huggins and Alexa Wilde with three apiece.
As the offense has improved over Jobson's four years, some of her veterans have begun adding their names to the Baylor recordbooks. Juniors Hannah Gilmore, Dana Larsen and Lisa Sliwinski each already rank among Baylor's top 10 in career goals barely halfway through their careers.
