Patricia Foster Howard And S. Kenneth Howard
Patricia Foster Howard, BA '53, MA '72, died Dec. 9, 2009, in Waco. She was 77. A longtime educator, she taught English and history in Waco ISD for a number of years and was a faculty member in the Department of English at Baylor for 26 years. In 1983, she received an Outstanding Faculty award from Baylor, as well as Circle of Achievement awards from Baylor's Mortar Board in 1983 and 1996. She retired from Baylor in 1998. In 2004, she was selected to be the bearer of the mace during Baylor's summer commencement ceremony.
S. Kenneth Howard, BA '49, BM '50, MSED '65, passed away on Feb. 28, 2010, in Waco at the age of 84. Howard served in the U.S. Army during World War II before college. He worked for Waco ISD for 40 years, served as music minister in four churches over 51 years, and held state and national offices in many prominent music education committees. Howard worked closely with the Baylor Symphony and in 1988 was recognized by the Baylor School of Music as a distinguished music educator. The Howards were married 56 years.
Survivors include one son, Don Howard, BA '79, and a daughter, Catherine Howard, BA '86. Memorials may be made to the Baylor English Department or to the Ken Howard Endowed Scholarship Fund in Choral Music at Baylor.
