"In 1981, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma with a grapefruit-sized tumor in my chest that had spread to my lungs. I was told that I would not be able to have children after the chemo. I had a year and a half of aggressive chemo, surgeries and radiation treatments to survive the Hodgkin's Disease. In November 1983, I gave birth to my daughter, Elissa, after ignoring my doctor's advice to have an abortion. My miracle baby followed her Mom and Dad's footsteps to Baylor, and I subsequently also had a son who is equally as precious to me. The Hodgkin's has not returned; however, I recently developed an early stage of breast cancer as a result of the radiation I had years ago.
