Keeping Coach Kim

April 27, 2007

Even with March Madness over for another year, Baylor Lady Bear basketball fans had more to celebrate after Kim Mulkey agreed to a long-term extension of her contract as head coach.
"Kim Mulkey is a nationally recognized leader in collegiate women's basketball and an outstanding ambassador for Baylor University," said Baylor President John M. Lilley. "In her seven years as coach, she has created a winning tradition in women's basketball that has brought positive recognition to Baylor. She is a person of integrity who is committed to success at the highest level of competition. We expect that Kim will be with Baylor for a long time."
"I am grateful for her loyalty and long-term commitment to Baylor, and look forward to working with her for many years to come," said Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "I believe that the Lady Bears will continue to be one of the nation's elite programs for many years to come under Kim's leadership."
"I would like to thank Dr. Lilley, Ian McCaw and the Board of Regents for appreciating the value of the Lady Bear basketball program among the University, alumni and fans across the nation," Mulkey said. "Here at Baylor we have everything we need to compete at the highest level; academics, facilities, resources and administrative support. Loyalty and commitment are important to any coach. Because of this commitment to me, I remain loyal to Baylor for a long time. The Lady Bear coaches and players will continue to work hard to put a product on the floor that is competitive and plays at the highest level."
