International Study Opportunities Are Boundless

November 26, 2007

Baylor began sending students overseas for international studies in 1920 with Dr. A.J. Armstrong's "English 31" trip to Europe. Today students participate in programs throughout Asia; the United Kingdom; North, Central and South America; Western Europe; Africa; and Australia.
During the past academic year, 805 Baylor students studied in 24 countries. Of those who received undergraduate degrees, 381 had studied abroad. As part of the 2012 vision, Imperative XI places a strong emphasis on global education with a goal that 30 percent of the 2012 graduating class will have studied abroad.
Additionally, 77 students received $108,360 in scholarship assistance through the Glennis McCrary Goodrich International Scholarship. Two more scholarships will soon begin to distribute their funds, making international studies through Baylor more attainable than ever.
The Center for International Education shares in Baylor University's mission of educating students for worldwide leadership and service. By facilitating, developing, and managing study abroad and exchange program opportunities for all students, the center contributes to Baylor's efforts in attracting top students and in providing the richness of experience which is found as students' horizons are broadened beyond their immediate culture.
