Baylor Recognized For New Energy Contract

On July 28, Baylor was honored with the "Innovation Award" by the National Association of College and University Business Officers for its 10-year energy contract with Integrys, formerly WPS Energy Services, which will begin in July 2008. The contract is expected to save about $2 million annually in campus energy costs. Baylor's funds will enable more wind-generated electricity to enter the Texas power grid. Don Bagby, director of facilities management, accepted the award at the NACUBO annual meeting in New Orleans.
"The Innovation award draws attention to Baylor's ability to search out and find innovative ways to significantly reduce costs while participating in a program that helps protect the environment. It is also a testimony to the decision-making ability of multiple campus groups in a fast-paced environment," Bagby said.
