Forum 2007

December 4, 2006

Women in and around the Bayou City who share a love for Baylor University are invited to attend Forum 2007, sponsored by Baylor University Women's Association of Houston, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Junior League of Houston Tea Room.
"We are very excited about BUWAH Forum 2007," says this year's event chairwoman, Amy Coffey Badger.
Previously held in 2005, Forum features educational topics of interest to today's women. This year's event features two topics: a presentation on horticulture by Harris County extension agent Dr. Carol S. Brouwer, and a panel presentation focusing on home and life organization headed by Karon van Vuuren of Kapela Solutions, who serves as president of the Houston chapter for the National Association of Professional Organizers.
The keynote speaker during lunch will be Geraldine Lilley, wife of Baylor University President John Lilley.
"The theme for this year's event is Beautify and Simplify, and we are inviting our members and guests to join us for a day filled with educational fun and tips on how to organize your garden and your home," Badger says.
A dinner will be held prior to the Forum, hosted by Baylor alumna Pat Graves Powers.
BUWAH was formed in 1987 and has since boasted a regular membership of around 400 women, both graduates and friends of the University. The president of BUWAH for 2006-2007 is Susan Stutzenburg Kooiman.
Organizers provide several opportunities annually for members and supporters to gather, including: Forum, which is held every other year; Fall Brunch; and Spring Luncheon.
Members of BUWAH commit to help future generations go through Baylor University through scholarships, which have been awarded yearly since 1990.
The organization's mission is to strengthen bonds of friendship, further education and promote continuing interest in the University. It is an independently organized, self-governing nonprofit group.
