A '70s Celebration

September 30, 2005

In the mid-1970s, the forerunners of the Lady Bears - the Bearettes - were making some women's basketball history of their own. To honor and celebrate those pioneers of the game at Baylor, a Lady Bear/Bearette social and reception will be held Nov. 18 in Cashion of the Hankamer School of Business.
Among the honorees will be former coach Olga Fallon and players Suzie Snider Eppers, Babette Metcalf, Cathy Hart, Sara Davis and many others. From 1974-78, the Bearettes posted a won/loss record of 126/37 and made two trips to the national AIAW tournament.
Hosted by the "B" Association, Baylor athletics and the Baylor Alumni Association, the reception will conclude with the honorees being escorted to the Ferrell Center as the Lady Bears take on UCLA in their first home game of the season. A game-time ceremony is planned.
