Lianne Fridriksson, associate professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Journalism, has been awarded her third Fulbright Scholar grant. She will lecture and conduct research at Ivan Franko National University in Lviv, Ukraine, in 2004.
Graduates from the Baylor School of Social Work bachelor's degree program achieved a 100 percent passing rate on the licensure examination of the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners. The School's master's degree graduates reached an 88 percent passing rate. The rates for all schools in Texas at both levels are 69 percent.
M. David Rudd, professor of psychology and neuroscience and director of the doctoral program in clinical psychology, was elected by his peers as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association for 2004. Fellows are elected for their exceptional and outstanding contributions to the research, teaching or practice of psychology. Rudd is an internationally known suicidologist.
Baylor is among a consortium of colleges lauded in the Dec. 15 issue of BusinessWeek for implementing Independent 529 Plan, a new prepaid college tuition plan. Independent 529 accounts generate no federal income taxes if used as intended and enable participants to avoid tuition inflation over the course of a student's college career.
