John B. Davidson

Baylor professor emeritus of religion John B. Davidson, 88, died Oct. 17, 2003, at his home in Belton, Texas. A graduate of University of North Texas, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Texas University, he served as pastor of several Central Texas churches before joining the Baylor Department of Religion, where he taught from 1957 to 1985. A highly respected scholar, his areas of expertise were New Testament, family and personal counseling, and psychology of religion. Davidson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jessie Margaret Miller Davidson; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Mike Cunningham; daughter and son-in-law Susie and Mike Lackmeyer; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Roland and Lorene Davidson; and several nieces and nephews.

Judge Connally McKay

Former Baylor trustee Judge Connally McKay, LLB '37, died Oct. 23 at the age of 89. Upon graduation from Baylor Law School, he served in World War II and was a founding member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for 39 years. Following his military service, Judge McKay was district attorney for the 114th Judicial District and associate justice of the 12th Court of Appeals in Tyler, Texas, until his retirement from the court in 1985. A member and president of many state, town and Baylor organizations, he received the T.B. Butler Award as Outstanding Citizen of Tyler in 1965. In 1978, he was named Baylor University Lawyer of the Year. He was licensed to practice law in the state of Texas for 66 years.

Judge McKay was preceded in death by his wife Glee McCrary McKay; his parents; a brother, D.S. McKay Jr.; and a sister, Hannah McKay Crofts. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Thomas W. Gilliam; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Walker Harman; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Bonnie McKay; a sister, Francis McKay Andrews; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
