Hobby Resigns as Head Golf Coach

August 8, 2003

Tim Hobby, who led the Bears to six straight NCAA tournament appearances, resigned June 27 to take a job as director of instruction at San Antonio's Club at Sonterra.
"This is a great opportunity for me and my family," said Hobby, who took the head golf coach position at his alma mater in 1996. "It gives me a chance to pursue my passion, which is full-time teaching, while allowing me an opportunity to spend more time at home."
Hobby, a 1990 graduate, led the Bears to the Big 12 Championship in 2001, the year in which he also earned conference coach of the year honors.
A nationwide search for his replacement began immediately.
