Gold Rush, Redux
Many people caught it last year, but Gold Rush fever should reach epidemic proportions this fall when Baylor fans fill up stands wearing a new version of the popular T-shirt.
This year's design was selected by students who are helping to run the campaign, which encourages Baylor fans to show support at athletic events by wearing their Gold Rush T-shirts, said Rick Creel, assistant vice president for operations and facilities and Gold Rush II committee co-chair. Last year, 37,000 shirts were purchased.
"It's so important for us to be involved in the community and to have our students take ownership of the campaign. We hope the Gold Rush becomes a long-running tradition as an example of the Baylor spirit," Creel said.
The effort also includes Baylor staff and faculty, as well as representatives from the Waco community, he said.
This year, T-shirts can be purchased for $5 at the McLane Student Life Center or ordered online at www.baylor.edu/goldrush. The new design also will adorn banners placed on light poles surrounding the campus.
